Functional Integration®

Functional Integration is a manual (hands-on) technique for individuals who prefer or require more individualized attention. Although it possesses significant therapeutic benefits, Functional Integration in its philosophy and technique is a learning-based, primarily nonverbal movement experience, that inIMG_3210creases self-awareness.

Benefits are felt by gently enhancing coordination, flexibility and efficiency of motion. The individual’s posture and movement become graceful and elegant.

Lessons can be done with the student lying on a firm but comfortable work table, standing, or sitting. The practitioner gently touches or moves the student in a wide variety of ways to facilitate awareness, learning, and vitality. Gradually the student is led to organize new movement patterns through both conscious and subconscious learning.

“I have found the Feldenkrais® Method of Somatic Education superior to any other modality in motor vehicle related neck and spine problems as well as other muscular-skeletal issues. I strongly recommend it to many of my patients.” -Susan S. Wilder, M.D. Dr Wilder is the Founder and Chief Executive Officer of LifeScape Medical Associates.

Feldenkrais is not just pushing muscles around, but changing things in the brain itself."
Karl Pribram, M.D., Neurophysiologist
